PAINT PACKAGES

Helmet paint is where drivers really get to show off their personality, and I make sure the process is as painless and efficient as possible. My goal is to integrate the client’s personal flair into each and every helmet, while maintaining a truly bespoke and contemporary final design. I offer a couple different paint packages to fit any budget, from weekend warrior to professional pilot.

Helmet paint pricing depends on a lot of factors, but the first variable is the design. More complex designs take longer to layout, mask, and paint so the cost rises with that added labor. Additional special effects, intricate stencil usage, and wing and vent painting all can alter the cost as well. Please note that you are commissioning a very special and unique piece of custom personal artwork and my prices reflect that. I don’t copy designs, I don’t cut corners. This is truly a one-off piece of art for you and you alone.

Please note that I DO NOT paint used helmets. In order to ensure the final paint job is of the highest quality, it is recommended that you provide a brand new, solid-color helmet. If you need to purchase a helmet, Oktane is a dealer for Arai and Stilo helmets and accessories, and I would be happy to help you pick the right model for your needs.

Please DO NOT send me a helmet without booking an appointment or contacting us first. Any helmet that shows up without a spot in the calendar, will be shipped back to you at YOUR cost.

Please note that I respectfully DO NOT accept or paint helmet designs from third parties. Many third-party designers are not well-versed in the paint process or the translation of 2D flat design to 3D painted art, leading to design elements or effects that may simply be impossible to reproduce in paint. Oktane Visual is also well-known for a particularly unique style and aesthetic, and third party designs typically do not capture the style of work that Oktane Visual has built it’s brand on. Most of my clients come to me for an “Oktane helmet”, not to simply have me produce another designer’s vision. Fortunately, I provide a unique level of expertise, with formal training and a degree in graphic design, and actual on-the-job experience in the industry, as well as over 10 years of custom paint experience to guide you from your 2D design to your 3D painted helmet with the utmost level of competency.

paint job options

Special finishes or paint processes may require additional fees to the base paint job price. Some of these optional effects are shown below, along with pricing information.

chrome base

A fully-reflective mirrored base, done in plain chrome or a variety of candy colors adds a huge level of flash to your helmet. This is a complex chemical process and may require an additional 1-2 weeks turnaround time.

Metal flake/glitter

Old-school cool; a sparkly metallic basecoat, where actual flakes of metal or glitter are sprayed onto the helmet. Super cool in bright sunlight.

metal leafing

Another classic, hotrod-inspired effect. Actual gold, silver, or copper leaf is laid on the helmet. A variety of colors are available, and engine-turned texture can be done as well.

matte clearcoat

A timeless look, giving that nice luxurious satin sheen to the finished clearcoat.

Matte/gloss combo clearcoat

Kicking it up a notch, we mask off key areas of the design, leaving them glossy smooth, while other areas get a matte satin clearcoat. A subtle way to add texture and pop to certain design elements.

painted aero kit

Match your wing kit to the helmet design for a more complete-looking paint job. Unlike some painters, we paint everything separately, so if the wing cracks or falls off, there isn’t any whitespace left underneath.

holographic details

Using holographic metallic vinyl, we can apply patterns or highlight lines to the design, giving a sharp and vibrant accent that changes in the sunlight.

vectorizing logos or characters

Have a logo or image you want on the helmet, but don’t have access to the original design files? Not a problem. We can convert your .jpg or raster images to vector on our hourly rate.

Got any other crazy ideas you want to try? Let us know! We’re open to innovative and new techniques that haven’t been done before on helmets, and we are always eager to try new things!
